Iranian Saipa enters the Russian car market: terms and first models mentioned

Representatives of the Iranian company Saipa announced their intention last summer to fight for the pockets and hearts of the Russians. Finally, they moved from words to deeds: they signed an agreement with a distributor, launched the car certification process. A few more months and the first three models will go on sale.

The Belarusian company Lucky Carensi has become Saipa’s distributor and will represent the Iranian car brand both in its republic and in Russia. The contract was signed at the end of January and now the factory is certifying cars. As it became known to our colleagues from Av.by, the start of sales will take place in about three months.

What kind of cars are we talking about? Saipa plans to launch with three models: Quick, Saina and Shahin. The first is a compact (length – 3989 mm) hatchback, built on the basis of the 1986 Kia Pride. The second and third are sedans, also class B. And, unfortunately, they are technically not far from their antediluvian five-door counterpart.

The company has not yet disclosed details about the configurations and prices of Saipa machines for the Russian market. However, taking into account their home prices and the additional costs of the distributor in the form of various tasks, we can confidently say that they will cost no less than 1.2 million rubles.

And this, in turn, casts doubt on the brand’s prospects: who needs outdated and highly controversial Iranian cars for that kind of money, when the native LADA Granta costs several hundred thousand less? In addition, she has absolutely no problems with a warranty or with spare parts.
