Not to be missed: test drive of the crossover Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX
This is in the best of times, a few years ago many motorists did not even try to remember all the varieties of Tiggo that the Chinese Chery produced in its model line. But now, in the conditions of a radically changed situation in the domestic car market, we enthusiastically see and remember every new Tiggo. Even if the “newbie” is just an adaptation of a well-known model. The AvtoVzglyad portal got acquainted with another such unit – the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX crossover.

The length of Chery model names has been increasing for a long time and inevitably. In addition to the already known Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, the Chinese have brought the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX to Russia and are now selling it. At one time there was a hope that, in addition to the prefix “max”, the novelty will also receive all-wheel drive. I had to “break down”: Tiggo 7 Pro MAX, like its “source” Tiggo 7 Pro, is exclusively front-wheel drive – strictly in the tradition of most modern Chery models on the Russian market. And still the same 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, which carefully and budgetary does not reach 150 hp. Of. and no less known variator. But still: another model on the market is already good in our poor time for new cars.

Although, as we can see, it is rather difficult to call the truly “new” Tiggo 7 Pro MAX. In fact, this is just a slightly “edited and improved” version of the Tiggo 7 Pro. Outwardly, you will not immediately understand that MAX is in front of you. It’s not until you look closely that you notice a slightly different grille pattern and “vertical” front fog lights. Behind, in addition to the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX nameplate itself, the “novice from the old man” is distinguished by the rear “marker lamp” that spans the entire width of the fifth door. In fact, the prefix MAX in this case can be safely deciphered as “after a slight restyling”.

But in the interior of the crossover, “maximization” has left a more interesting imprint. It was “adapted” to the interior design of an older model – like the Tiggo 8 Pro.

So instead of the rounded “tidy” of the usual 7 Pro, the 7 Pro MAX has it in the form of a rectangular 12.3-inch color monitor. With its right side, they “merged” with the screen of the multimedia system – exactly the same size. So, now Chery’s “seven” does not lag behind the trend that is now fashionable under the conditional name “TV for half a car.” Among the visible innovations in the interior design, we can also mention the “mirrored” relative position of the cup holder and the wireless charging of a smartphone.

But the multimedia system 7 Pro MAX was packed with additional options. Lane assistant, adaptive “cruise” and other options that have already become standard for many “Chinese” options will not surprise anyone here. But a set of electronic “chips” new to the “seven” for an unusual person can be strenuous. For example, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX by default strives to force the driver to rest almost every hour. And for some reason, for some reason, he desperately flashes an “emergency flasher” every time another car is pushed too close to his stern in a traffic jam (according to his “brain”).

Therefore, before getting behind the wheel of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX, I strongly recommend that you spend some time with the electronic menu displayed on the multimedia screen. To disable the options you find unnecessary.

As for the driving performance of Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX, the car did not present any particular surprises. Crazy dynamics from an engine with 147 hp and a displacement like a plastic “beer bomb” should not be expected. But for the average driver, this performance is sufficient. “Passport” acceleration to 100 km / h in 9.8 seconds is not particularly annoying. The average fuel consumption in the city ranges from 9-10 liters per hundred.

Note that the “horses” here are turbocharged under the hood. That is, the engine already delivers good torque from a low speed. As a result, the character of the car’s acceleration from traffic lights does not disappoint.

Suspension 7 Pro MAX digests all the “little things” under the wheels well, but with serious irregularities, it allows itself to thump with displeasure. You go too far with the speed on the “speed bump” and the crossover clearly backs up. In fast corners, body roll is predictable and not intimidating. With an increase in speed, it “starts” to “drag” the front axle to the outer radius – classic and quite controllable. The steering wheel, of course, is deaf and does not yield to sharp feedback. But what do you want from an “Asian”? Roughly the same road habits as those of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX are inherent in most modern crossovers from Japan or Korea.

I can’t help but note that, among other “trinkets” of the crossover, I was personally amused by its way of automatically displaying combined video from all-round cameras on the central monitor at every turn at a traffic light. At the same time, a drawn image of the car itself is built in: they show you a maneuver from the side. I can’t say anything about the meaning of these “cartoons”, but one thing I know for sure – whoever drew it clearly played a cult computer toy called GTA: San Andreas. Wild makes you think. At such moments, looking out of the corner of your eye at the monitor of the “multimedia”, you so expect that the cheeky “CJ” Carl Johnson is about to jump to your Chery Tiggo 7 Pro MAX and throw you to hell from behind The wheel…

Finally, it is impossible not to touch the money issue. In that sense, the Tiggo 7 Pro MAX is slightly different from its “almost twin brother” Tiggo 7 Pro. The price of the novelty starts at almost 2.4 million rubles. And the Tiggo 7 Pro has about 2.1 million. Do you like an almost imperceptible facelift and large monitors in the cabin? Get ready to pay about 300,000 rubles.
