Where, towards the end of winter, hidden cavities of a car often appear
Driving a car in winter is stressful not only for the driver, but also for the “iron horse”, which faces a number of problems. Perhaps the most important is rust, which “devours” the metal so quickly that you do not have time to come to your senses. Especially when corrosion starts to show up where it just isn’t visible.

Not only snow, water and dirt have a detrimental effect on various elements in a car, chemical reagents that road builders actively pour over Russian instructions also have an additional effect. That’s why even new cars rust quickly.

But the worst thing is that corrosion can hide from the eyes of the car owner, who at some point, not great at all, gets not even “bugs”, but real holes.

In which hidden cavities should one check for possible rust formation before they completely “gobble up” the metal?

First of all, we are talking about wheel arches, which are most intensively exposed to moisture, dirt and reagents. Attention should also be paid to the undersides of the doors, where rust often appears on the joints even after the end of winter. The latter is often to blame for Japanese cars, including Toyota, whose representatives so zealously shout about their durability.

It would be useful to inspect the thresholds, which in the cold season should not only be washed, but also thoroughly dried. And there are microscopic scratches that cause corrosion on the back of the door handles.

By the way, the gap between the body and the door hinges should also be inspected – if you do not have time, there is a risk of corrosion, which no rust converter can remove. The mounting points for bumpers, fenders and even lighting equipment are also at risk.

The drains under the windshield require more attention and care at the same time. They must be regularly cleaned of dirt deposits and, if necessary, treated with specialized automotive chemicals. Also inspect bolted connections in order to have time to take anti-corrosion measures. But the floor under the carpets in the cabin, where moisture regularly accumulates, is quite difficult to inspect yourself. Therefore, in order to avoid problems, try to dry the car interior by periodically activating the air conditioning system to the maximum.
