From the outside it is easy to talk about the problems of internal affairs caused by the self-elimination of almost all European and Asian automakers from the Russian market. Meanwhile, their outcome caused very serious problems for our businessmen. But as the AvtoVzglyad portal found out, they are quite surmountable. Thanks, among other things, to the cars coming off the assembly line of the Gorky Automobile Plant, which very successfully replaced the departed “foreigners”. So, for example, the Sobol NN van, according to the words of real users, more than adequately copes with its tasks in the real sector of the economy.

There is now no specific shortage of dump trucks and trucks in the Russian market. But in the niche of light vans of the “foreigners” there was almost no one left. Even the “Chinese” in this segment are not really represented now. At the moment, a major player here is the Nizhny Novgorod Automobile Plant with its Gazelle NN and the Sobol NN created on its basis. The latest model is the latest development from the automaker. The AvtoVzglyad portal was asked to tell Alexander Baranov, an employee of the Butler Group of Companies, about the practical experience of serving this “newcomer”. He is responsible for operating the branded fleet, in which Sobol NN appeared some time ago.

“At a certain point there was a need for a truck,” says Baranov. – We went to the dealer and saw “Sobol NN” there. Before that we had many cars made in Nizhny Novgorod: Gazelles and Valdai. The experience of their operation turned out to be positive, so we decided to try this model in practice.

What needs do you use it for?

— The specialization of our company is the sale of spare parts and the repair of imported agricultural machinery. Many goods come from transport companies, we collect them and deliver them in the city and region.

– Based on your operational experience, what did you like about Sobol NN?

– In the past, we have always preferred foreign cars in this segment. But the situation has changed. The new car from the Nizhny Novgorod plant is well equipped even “basically”.

– What can you say about the rear-wheel drive of the car?

– Well what can I say? In the back it can be difficult to drive the car in winter when the public utilities do not have time to clear the snow.

– How do you rate the interior of the car?

– Very good. Plenty of storage space for telephones, stamps, stamps, documents, all kinds of small things. Undoubtedly very comfortable.

– Since we are talking about winter, how much is in demand, in your opinion, the package of winter car options – heated windshield, steering wheel, mirrors?

– In my opinion, these options should be standard on all machines. But, unfortunately, this may not be the case even with foreign cars. Here surprises “Sobol NN”! Heated glass is a useful feature. It would be nice to add wireless access as well. Freight forwarders will be very grateful to you for this.

— About the noise in the cabin. Strongly annoying?

– The cabin is quieter than in the same Gazelle Next. The engine is almost inaudible. The driver is less tired of the noise and works better.

— Are you ready to recommend Sobol NN to your friends and partners?

– So far, the mileage of our car is relatively small, and it is too early to make clear recommendations based on operational experience. But a number of nuances have already emerged. For example, the salon here is certainly good. Dashboard — well thought out, lots of options. The headlights are all LED. A spacious cargo area – it has almost vertical side walls that do not “steal” the usable volume in the upper part of the body.

And it is important that the car is agile for the city. I would also like the gears to be shifted with less effort in a mechanical “six-speed”, and then “Sobol NN” will not be inferior to foreign cars that have not disappeared from the market in any way. For example, we took our car for 2.8 million rubles. And if in Nizhny Novgorod they manage to overcome small “styles” while maintaining current prices, then the car is not worth the price and can be safely recommended to friends and acquaintances.

– You can now buy a car in two body styles: an all-metal van and a crew cab combi. Do you think this choice is sufficient?

– I think so. But we would also be interested in a four-wheel drive pickup based on Sobol NN. We will be among the first to purchase such equipment. We currently have 12 Chinese pick-ups in our fleet. In a year they will have to be written off – the runs will reach the critical 250,000-300,000 km. And pickups based on the Nizhny Novgorod model with a carrying capacity of 900-1200 kg would be a great replacement for them …

Note that the release of “Sobol NN” in all-wheel drive is already planned. You look, and the pickup body appears in the model range. Thus, the car manufacturer from Nizhny Novgorod will almost completely close this niche of commercial transport. Thus, Russian companies can fully rely on domestic producers and not depend on the whims of foreigners.
