Exeed premium crossovers will be produced in Uzbekistan

Exeed (Chery’s premium sub-brand) is well underway with preparations for the launch of its new plant in Uzbekistan – equipment is already being installed at the facility. The opening of the site will take place this spring, according to preliminary data. But whether the cars produced in Tashkent will be delivered to Russia is still unclear.

As representatives of Asaka Motors International (Exeed’s local distributor) told our colleagues from Chinese Automobiles, lifting equipment is already being set up at the future plant, as well as equipment for testing manufactured vehicles.

Initially, cars will be assembled using the “screwdriver” method, but in the future the automaker plans to bring production to the level of a full cycle. As for volumes, at the first stage the capacity of the enterprise will be 5,000 vehicles per year, later – up to 20,000 units.

Crossovers LX, TXL and VX will be installed on the assembly line of the new plant in Tashkent – with these three models the brand will enter the local market in March. But until the venture opens, they will be supplied from China.

What about the cars for our market – where will they be imported from after the launch of the Uzbek site? Not clear. The AvtoVzglyad portal has submitted this issue to Exeed’s Russian office and they told us that there is no information about the delivery of crossovers from Uzbekistan so far.
