As part of the solemn launch of the production of LADA Vesta NG in Togliatti, a small press conference was held, where AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov answered questions from journalists. He was asked about electric vehicles for domestic use, among other things, and the head of the car giant said that the only truly Russian electric train is LADA e-Largus.
Speaking about the electric modification of LADA Largus, Mr. Sokolov emphasized that this is the only electric car that can be proudly called a domestic car. Why? Because we are talking about full-fledged Russian production and development, and not about “gluing name tags”. Stones flew into three gardens at once: Moskvich, which collects twisted JACs, Evolute with its slightly modified Dongfeng, and Alfarus from Saratov, which plans to attach wheels to green FAWs.
The president of AVTOVAZ noted that the LADA e-Largus prototype had already been presented and was especially highly appreciated by the head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov. Togliatti residents will make every effort to produce the first trial batch of “battery” station wagons and vans by the end of this year, and to begin mass production of “eco-friendly” new items in 2024.
As for the usual Largus gasoline, it will return to the assembly line in the fall. This was known before, but Maxim Sokolov once again confirmed the information, adding that the Largus is a very popular model. And since AVTOVAZ understands that the company needs it badly, it will be given special attention: to meet the demand, the plant is ready to work “if necessary, at least in three shifts.”
