The prices for car repair parts, which skyrocketed due to well-known events, created a curious phenomenon in the field of car maintenance. Portal “AvtoVzglyad” revealed the details of the next “grimaces” of the auto business.

In the past year, since last spring, dealers have learned to supply the Russian auto parts market with many items from the range of “consumables” and components for the most popular brands – both budget and premium. At relatively affordable prices.

Oddly enough, but the Russian army of “original quality adepts” among car owners, even in current conditions, is still large. These people are sometimes ready to repair their car, albeit with second-hand, but original spare parts. Such a life position is also based on an unprovable postulate, which says: “Spare parts used to be made to last, not like the poor quality and small resources of the current remake.”

Meanwhile, the price of a “native” shock absorber for such a popular model as, for example, the latest generation of Toyota Camry reaches 14,000-17,000 rubles! Exactly the same part, but in the packaging of a Korean plant that supplies OE components for assembly production in Japan, costs 4000-5000 rubles. The same damping element (new, original) for a new BMW model now costs 30,000 rubles or more! The price of the same part, but used “in good condition”, will not please either.

But even this does not discourage stubborn lovers of all things “native” from pursuing the “original”. It is not surprising that both savvy domestic craftsmen and the sane part of foreign car owners soon learned to earn from such a worldview.

A short search on the Internet yields many offers from specialist shock absorber repair shops. To fully restore even the most “killed”, with leaked fluid, a stuck “amort” for a specialist is an insignificant matter, it turns out. For 1000-2000 rubles they repair a shock absorber from the same Camry, even from BMW with Mercedes! And now what about the cunning car owner, who bypassed the obsession with “native” spare parts?

Very easy. When it comes time to replace the shock absorbers, he puts a high-quality “non-original” instead of the “killed”. And the old “relatives” are not thrown into the trash, but for little money they give for restoration. And then he puts them up for sale on the internet as ‘used in perfect condition’. After implementation, the financial costs of the car owner to replace the depreciation of his car will be reimbursed at a minimum. Sometimes this whole combination also brings some profit.

Well, for the “lucky one” who bought “genuine native shock absorbers in good condition”, the roulette game begins. If the restoration of these suspension elements is carried out with high quality, they will last a long time. And if the master worked carelessly or used low-quality cheap repair kits, the repaired nodes will fail again very quickly. After all, the inscription Toyota (or, for example, Mercedes) on the details never added strength and endurance to it.
