In the former Russian reality, Kia Rio was wildly popular, but abroad this model is not doing well – so much so that the Koreans even decided to withdraw it from the markets of Europe and Australia in the coming years. For the rest of the countries, they are preparing a restyled version of the “state worker”: it is already being road tested in Sweden.
Since the car spotted by the “photo spies” during the tests is carefully disguised with camouflage foil and clearly larger than the current version of the Kia Rio, it is difficult to be sure that it is the refreshed Rio in the photos is. It is possible that the Koreans are preparing another model or adaptation for the premiere, although this is less likely.
Be that as it may, despite the camouflage, the photos show a narrower optics, modified bumpers, a more streamlined silhouette with a sloping roofline. The double tailpipes also attract attention – perhaps, in the conditions of Swedish winters, the Koreans experience not the base, but the top, a la sports modification of the model.
Our foreign colleagues from Carscoops, who published spy shots, do not report any technical details about the new Kia Rio. Apparently, information about the hardware will appear later, closer to the premiere of the renewed four-door. When will it take place? End of this year or early next year. Will we surprise the novelty in Russian car dealerships? Probably. But official deliveries should not be expected – only if they are “parallel”.
