On the “secondary” a sharp rise in prices: to which car buyers went on the hunt

The new year, 2023, has not really started yet and car prices have skyrocketed again. Well, if the Ministry of Industry and Trade has not heard President Putin’s orders about the need to regulate prices in the car segment, then sellers – and even more so. As they drove up their prices (read – they spat), they continue to do so, not without zeal. It seems that those who were going to upgrade their car should not delay the purchase.

If we used to drive a car as a rule for a few years and collect money for a future new thing along the way, today we simply do not have enough time or money to somehow catch up with the permanent price increase. Life from month to month is getting more and more expensive, but unfortunately there is no money left in the pockets of the population. On the contrary, the rate of their decrease is increasing.

Therefore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to trade in your old car for a newer one. Selling something won’t be difficult, but what should you buy for the proceeds? Especially when there is simply nothing to add? The answer is simple: practically nothing! Therefore, the people continue to roll en masse on “iron horses” who have seen their lives, trying to save at least what is left.

However, let’s not exaggerate. There are still plenty of liquid cars on the market. And, as expected, it is they who, for the most part, pass from hand to hand. By the way, according to the Avito Auto platform, demand for the “secondary” for the first month and a half of 2023 increased by 7.2%, and prices – by 6.7% compared to the same period last year. The average price for a used car today is 800,000 rubles. But what are our compatriots buying?

Most often, consumers are interested in the products of domestic AVTOVAZ, which are inexpensive, but always in demand. Second in popularity, as expected, was the Japanese Toyota, famous not only for its reliability, but also for its ability not to lose value over the years. Finally, the Korean Hyundai closes the TOP-3, the craft of which differs from the related Kia only in design and price. Yes, they are more expensive and therefore more prestigious. Image, as they say, is everything.

However, the “cousin” Kia models are sold not much worse in the secondary market. Although the products of the German Volkswagen are even less popular, this does not prevent it from remaining in the top five most liquid car brands in Russia.

If the average price of LADA increased by 5.2% and Toyota by 6.4%, Hyundai models increased in value by a whopping 12.4%. Slightly less – at 9.3% cars Kia and at 6.2% – Volkswagen.

Speaking of the most “burning” offers, among the VAZ models it is worth noting LADA Priora, 2114 Samara and Granta. It is these machines that are more in demand than others. On average, Priors trade for 299,000 rubles, Chetyrki for 152,000 and Grants for 539,000.

As for the most profitable “Japanese”, the sales leaders are Toyota Camry with an average check of 1,880,000 rubles, Toyota Corolla for 700,000 “wooden” and the RAV4 crossover, which will be released at an average cost of 1,990,000 reinforced Russian banknotes. Of the used “Koreans”, the most popular were Hyundai Solaris for 825,000 rubles, Accent for 310,000 and Elantra, the average price of which is 990,000 rubles.
