Is it worth buying a Ford Focus 2 for 500,000 rubles
The Ford Focus 2, which rolled off the assembly line from 2005 to 2011, was warmly welcomed by our customers. First of all, because it turned out to be very reliable. And many copies are still winding kilometers of Russian roads, and their owners do not even think about switching to anything else. Although there are many “focuses” in the secondary market. However, the model has several weaknesses that you should be aware of. The portal “AvtoVzglyad” tells about it.

The first two generations of “Focus” enjoyed success with the Russians. Everything was spoiled by the third generation. It was then that the fragile “robots” PowerShift and bizarre low-volume motors appeared. And the ergonomics haven’t changed for the better. Let’s say the trunk and opening have fallen victim to design. Therefore, the second generation is still popular with us. We’ll talk about him.

The sedan and hatchback were assembled in Vsevolozhsk, and the station wagon was brought from Europe. There was even a convertible, but that is rare with us. After restyling in 2008, the exterior and interior of the car were refreshed. As for the technology, it has remained the same.

The body is not too afraid of corrosion, but even if the “iron horse” has never had an accident, red spots “creep out” at the seams of the thresholds and on the bumper mounts. In older cars (especially those that worked in taxis), rust can be seen on the lower parts of the doors. But the body’s power structure rarely rots. Please note that the most problematic specimens are found in Moscow and the region, because here the roads are mercilessly doused with reagents.

The range of power sources includes petrol engines with a capacity of 1.4 liters (80 hp), 1.6 liters (100 hp and 115 hp), 1.8 liters (125 hp) and 2 liters (145 hp). There was also a “diesel”, but it turned out to be unpopular in Russia. All engines are very sensitive to fuel quality, and it is better not to replace the candles after the prescribed 15,000 km, but closer to 10,000 km. Frankly weak points: thermostat, throttle, quickly clogged with dirt, poor air filter location and increased oil consumption for waste.

If we talk about the KP, then they are all quite reliable. The 5-speed “mechanics” IB5 differs only in weak synchronization mechanisms for the second gear. In the 5-speed MTX75 transmission (equipped with 1.8 liter and 2 liter engines), the axles suffer from low oil levels. Therefore, the lubrication level must be checked. Remember the old 4-speed “automatic”. Here, only the valve body will provide a surprise, but then again with a ride of 150,000 km.

In the suspension, not only wheel bearings and stabilizer struts can be considered consumables, but also expensive shock absorbers. In general, there are no specific problems.
