How drivers overheat car engines and forget a simple procedure
Spring has come in Russia, which means that very soon “snowdrops” will creep onto the roads, open the summer season, and “crimson” traffic jams will form. And what are severe congestions fraught with? Enormous overheating of engines, which in turn entails high costs. However, “boiling” can be completely avoided if special attention is paid to pre-season maintenance of the cooling system. What exactly needs to be done is told by the AvtoVzglyad portal.

March 8 is behind us, which means that the thermometer is gradually switching to spring mode. The warming is late, but weather forecasters are unanimously promising it by the end of the month. The temperature will rise, road traffic will be aggravated by creeping “snowdrops”. And many, as usual, will begin to “boil”. To open the hoods smelling of heat, to discover the hitherto unknown: expansion tanks compressed like a can of “foaming” after an unscored penalty. That’s the number! And who is to blame for this?

In the case of a car and its problems, there is always one culprit: the driver. He didn’t take care, he didn’t check, he didn’t prepare, he didn’t listen. Neither to the car nor to the advice of others. But they said that in the spring – the sooner the better – the “swallow” must be maintained. And not only “oils, candles and filters”, but also the cooling system. And let’s say right away: washing a Karcher radiator at a “self-wash” is not a service, but something from another area.

High-quality and competent service of the internal combustion engine cooling system includes: inspection and diagnosis of radiators with mandatory analysis and staged cleaning, replacement of antifreeze, inspection of all pipes and pumps for leaks. In addition, from time to time it is necessary to “renew” the cap of the expansion tank or the like on the radiator. For some reason, many people keep forgetting about them.

But traffic jams perform an important function – they regulate the pressure and, if necessary, release “extra bars”. Thanks to the bypass valve system, the closed circuit can pass tough tests, but it needs exactly the same control. A penny detail can easily cause destruction and provoke a lot of expenses.

In domestic cars and old foreign cars, the valve regulating the pressure in the system was often placed not on the radiator, but on the expansion tank. The cork performed the same function, but the effect of its failure was different. Thus, the tank could not only burst, but also shrink like a pack of juice, from which everything was squeezed to the last drop. In three out of four cases, a poor quality cork or a “thrown up” cork is to blame. And the verdict is always the same – change. And do not save, but choose the most reliable spare part. Otherwise there are more costs.
