Surprisingly, it is a fact: a Russian who pays his last money for a car imported through “gray” roads is not afraid of the lack of a warranty, or the lack of car parts, or the mediocre skills of the military those that are ready to maintain the car through trial and error. For two months of 2023, used foreign car imports from abroad have grown 3.3 times. It’s just the beginning…

While our authorities tell each other that it is necessary to regulate prices in the country’s auto market while more actively slowing down the flow of “leftist” cars pouring in from the wide open gates of parallel imports, businessmen continue to sell tons of foreign cars of every stripe to import to us.

Imports of “gray” cars into Russia, as already mentioned, have increased by 3.3 times, and the demand for them – according to Avito Auto statistics – has more than doubled. The average cost of a foreign “beushka” is now 1,720,000 rubles. And most often Russian motorists order second-hand “Japanese” and “Korean” for themselves. Apparently, the myth about the reliability of the former and the availability of the latter still plays a role in our brother’s choice of automatic updates.

At the beginning of 2023, the share of Japanese brands in the secondary market was even higher than the share of domestic manufacturers: 23% against 22.8%! Most often, “Japanese women” come to Russia directly from local auctions. And for the most part we are talking about low mileage cars under three years old. Apparently, our compatriots consider such copies as an alternative to new cars. Well, they are entitled to it.

The bestseller among foreign brands is Toyota, the second place in popularity was taken by Honda models, and the Korean Kia closes the top three. Fourth place was secured by the no less Korean Hyundai, and the last line in the TOP-5 went to the Japanese Nissan. By the way, a year earlier, the same Nissan took third place among brands whose products were ordered by “gray” tracks, and the fourth and fifth positions were taken by Mitsubishi from the Land of the Rising Sun and French Renault. The leaders have remained unchanged.

Most of the advertisements for the sale of “parallel” foreign cars with mileage were registered in the Mother See – Moscow accounts for 5.8% of the supply and 16.3% of the demand. This is followed by Novosibirsk (5.4% of the supply) and Krasnoyarsk (4.9%).

As for individual models, the most popular among Russian customers in the first two months of 2023 was the Honda Freed with an average price of 925,000 rubles. The share of the model in the supply structure of imported used cars from abroad was 2%. Slightly less – 1.7% – bit off Hyundai Santa Fe with an average bill of 2,400,000 rubles. TOP-3 is topped by Kia Carnival with a share of 1.4% and a weighted average price of 2,500,000 rubles.

The fourth place in the ranking of the most popular “gray” foreign cars was taken by Nissan Note, which can be bought on average for 913,000 “wooden”. And the fifth is Kia Sportage with a price tag of 1,850,000 domestic notes.

The top ten most purchased foreign cars under the parallel import scheme included the Honda Fit, which is traded for an average of 810,000 rubles, the Honda Stepwgn for 1,550,000 rubles, the Hyundai Palisade for 3,400,000 rubles and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with an average check of 2,900,000 rubles and a Toyota Alphard for 2,200,000.
