The exodus of many imported manufacturers last year not only resulted in empty shelves, which could be “hidden” with great difficulty by parallel imports, but also in the “cutting” of many jobs. However, this is not the case for all companies. Among those who managed to “preserve”, for example, was the Nokian tire plant in the Leningrad region. It is now being developed under a different banner, but what does this mean for consumers? The answer is in the material of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Together with the beginning of the CBO, a mass exodus of foreign brands from Russia began, many of which managed to “take root” – to localize production by building their own enterprises in our country. Most – to meet domestic Russian demand, although some “parochial” sites have become the flagship. For example, the Nokian tire factory, which supplied its products abroad – even in the USA!

However, Russia has been and remains since ancient times the main consumer of tires popular in our latitudes. Who would argue that Nokian is associated with quality for many – especially when it comes to winter tires. But, despite the quickly found buyer – the company “Tatneft” – the plant is still standing still, because there are complex and too long bureaucratic procedures.

However, the gap is already visible: the government commission for the control of foreign investment in the Russian Federation approved the deal for Tatneft to acquire Nokian’s Russian assets.

In addition, the asset transfer report refers to several legal entities. That is, the Finns sold not only the plant, but also the network of official Vianor dealers that has been cultivated for a long time. The shops are recognizable, popular, but the previous owners no longer need them. The letters have been switched – Vianor is now “Ivanor” – but the amount, as usual, has not changed. Add to account!

Only the question with the brand of the rubber itself remains open: what will the well-known tires be called now? You can forget names even remotely related to Nokian, Hakkapeliitta, Hakka. Like, apparently, about Nordman. The composition will remain the same, as will the pattern, the same people will make tires, on the same conveyor belt, but the name on the sidewalls will be different. Which? According to rumor, or Torsten, or Ikonan, or Ikon.

And finally, self-interest: when will production begin? Apparently, the launch of the conveyor belt will not take much time, and by next winter the Russians will be presented with a new Russian brand with a wide range of products. It will be as “homely” as the Lipetsk Evolute, re-gluing nameplates on Chinese electric vehicles, but there’s nothing wrong with that in this case. And it is not expected.
