The prototype of the future restyled Kia Carnival was spotted during road tests in South Korea. Judging by the photos of the carefully camouflaged car, it will receive a new headlight design – with a vertical orientation, like the Kia EV9 crossover. The layout of the LED daytime running lights has also been revised. The block lights at the rear of the model take on a new shape that resembles an inverted letter L, as seen on the restyled Kia Seltos. The main innovation in Carnival is associated with the appearance of a hybrid power plant in the range of power units. Little is known about its technical characteristics. Even the type and power of the “hybrid” are still secret. It is sparsely reported that the novelty will receive a 1.6-liter petrol engine, combined with an electric motor. Since the Carnival is a large car, we can assume that we are talking about the 1.6-liter turbo engine with 177 hp that Kia already has at its disposal.

Also consider that the Carnival is currently offered in several markets with two engines to choose from: a 2.2 liter diesel engine with 201 horsepower or a 3.5 liter petrol engine with 296 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Most likely, in the near future, new details will appear about this Korean model, which has every chance of entering the Russian market (through “gray” imports). The Korean automaker plans to launch the facelifted Kia Carnival on the global market in January 2024.
