Deficiency and marriage: why Chinese spare parts won’t save Russian drivers

With a shortage of consumables and spare parts for cars in our country, prices for them began to rise. This not only affected ordinary drivers painfully, but also dealers and transporters. This was stated by the participants at the Interbranch Automobile Congress (IAC), which was held in Moscow on March 21. The correspondent of the AvtoVzglyad portal spoke with experts and found out what is happening now with vehicle maintenance and what to expect in the near future.

Organized by 3K Events, the conference brought together automotive experts and industry professionals. Of course, they discussed the future of the car market. While it is foggy and twilight is in no hurry to disappear. There are not enough new cars. Citizens are switching to used cars or continuing to use the vehicles they already own to the last. This applies to both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. And here a number of difficulties arise.

For example, Alexey Podshchekoldin, chairman of the board of directors of BN-Motors (a network of 10 dealers), said that now there are problems with spare parts for Renault models, for example. You should not hope for China, simply because they were not originally made there. And setting up production takes time. And the quality leaves much to be desired. In general, it is better not to mess with such a product.

With the “bodywork” the situation is even more complicated and the Asians can’t help that either. Again, the quality is questionable. Often the part simply does not fit the welding points or has other defects. In the end, the top manager noted that the shortage of consumables will only increase.

Not everything is “sweet” in a light bowl. Aleksey Sobolkov, director of development at Gruzovichkof, complains about the price increase. The engine control unit for a GAZ car used to cost about 7,000 rubles, and now you have to pay at least 20,000 for it. Therefore, businessmen are already dismantling old cars and re-flashing the “brains” of the control hardware in order to maximize the service life of expensive units. And in general Gazellen’s service has increased by 30%. Admittedly, there is no shortage of trucks and vans.

By the way, 30-40% of spare parts for various modifications of the gas “one and a half” can already be ordered in China, but their resources are low. Nizhny Novgorod makes more reliable. It is also interesting that there are no specific problems with the Chinese “diesel” Cummins. But for EvoTech series gasoline engines, you need to look for consumables.

As for purchasing the necessary nomenclature in other countries, the reality here is harsh. Businessmen are in no hurry to cooperate with Turkey, and logistics chains with Iran have not yet been built at all.

Foreigners have their own problems. If sellers have built up a stock of engine oil, sometimes for some models you just can’t find trifles, such as battery terminals. The conclusions are disappointing. We may already be cushioned by a new wave of shortages this year. As for Chinese products, especially “iron”, the probability of marriage is very high.
