Ford filed a somewhat curious patent, but one that could be of great help in times of tightening outside of metropolitan areas and urban centers. The team has embarked on a project in which they are using a legion of drones to help drivers start their vehicles, and even grab a jumper cable for those with a dead battery or problems. Despite the fact that this is a project of 2017, the patent received a serial number only recently – 11614063.

The Ford Authority website says this is not the only drone-related project the manufacturer is working on, saying they have filed several uses for the aircraft in recent months that could benefit society in the future. The suggestion is that you activate the service and they capture your location in order to track the flight. Once there, they will open the hood and connect the car battery to start the car, allowing the driver to continue on their way without too much trouble.

The target audience will be from rural areas where people do not have the option of easier assistance or other vehicles to help. However, it is worth noting that apart from the planned start date for its production, there is not even a release date. So it’s good to be doubly careful until this sees the light of day.

Futuristic and possible concept today

The use of drones and unmanned vehicles for general use is not uncommon in the industry. As we have seen, several tests have already been done, such as the use of airplanes for delivery by companies such as Amazon and iFood. There are even moves to use it to deliver medicines to remote locations and without having to deal with a lot of traffic in urban centers or areas with extensive vegetation.

Despite a handful of car accessories coming out over the past few years, this is the first time Ford is investing in drone projects based on the quality of life of its car users. While the recording was made, the company itself did not officially comment on its plans for the future.
