GAZ asks Russian authorities not to let Volkswagen out of the country

The union of GAZ employees intends to stop Volkswagen’s departure from Russia by turning to the government. Gorky residents were dissatisfied with the decision of the Nizhny Novgorod Arbitration Court to lift the arrest of the German company’s Russian assets. According to them, VW is obliged to pay off debts to the company where the group’s cars were previously assembled.

Yevgeny Morozov, chairman of the GAZ works councils, is sure that the lifting of restrictions will allow Volkswagen to leave the market with impunity, which will affect the employees of the production site, who were actually “thrown” for money. The Gorky Automobile Plant union also plans to receive support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Recall that GAZ Group demanded to recover from former partners 15.6 billion rubles in losses incurred as a result of the cessation of machine-building production in Nizhny Novgorod, where the Czech Skoda Octavia, Kodiaq and Karoq, as well as the German VW Taos were assembled.

Meanwhile, VAG began an active battle with the supply of its cars to Russia, which entered the market through “gray” roads. Admittedly, the Germans are not very good at controlling parallel imports.
