The Japanese brand runs its cars not only in factory tests, but also in races, and not professional racers, but full-time Acura engineers sit behind the wheel of standard cars.

In 2022, two employees of the company will start the race-competition Tire Rack One Lap of America, during which they will cover several thousand kilometers across the country. And at the same time try out the car under the auspices of the factory team Honda of America Racing Team (HART).

Nicholas Hammann and Clifton Ching race in the same crew in their spare time. Hammann is the chassis engineer for Acura’s suspension specifications, while Ching is responsible for the ride and chassis setup.

But outside of work at Acura, Nicholas and Clifton turn into a pilot and navigator. The next test for their impromptu crew will be an 8-day race across the USA.

During the competition, participants will travel through 12 states and visit a number of racetracks, including Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, Heartland Motorsports Park in Kansas and Putnam Park Road Course in Indiana. Conquer the distance pilots on the TLX Type S.

Equipped with a 360-horsepower 3-liter V6 and all-wheel drive, the car is completely standard, differing only in HRE wheels and Carbotech brake pads, as well as a livery stylized as the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach safety car. The purpose of participation in Tire Rack One Lap of America-2022 will be to test the chassis settings and reliability of the sedan as a whole.
