Belt of Discord: How do you get two legal fines for one traffic violation?
In Russia, both traffic cops and cameras for automatic photographic registration of violations are already fined for unfastening seat belts. Moreover, if they decide to “get off completely”, the former can absolutely legally write out two decisions to the driver at once for such brutality. Although, of course, not for everyone – only the most “prepared”. And in more detail – in the material of the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

Neither wise engineers, nor sound warnings, nor countless clips from crash tests could teach the Russians to fasten their seatbelts. They explained, explained, and the “jammers” got stuck in the locks, because the belts “rubbed” and “squeezed” the mighty bodies. With a carrot, the necessity could not be proved, and a whip came into action: not only traffic cops, but also cameras began to fine this violation.

Despite this, the people continued to fight against the wicked belts. They also came up with a curious lifehack in case a “freedom lover” is stopped by a traffic policeman and points to violating traffic rules. Enough, they say, to say that the belt broke “just five minutes ago” and was therefore not fastened. But such an approach is a checkmate for the driver himself, because such an explanation allows the traffic officer to “hit” a second fine.

Judge for yourself: driving without a seatbelt in a car that is factory-fitted with this seatbelt will result in a fine of 1,000 rubles, in accordance with Article 12.6 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. We bend a finger. The driver tries to justify himself, saying that the belt “gave up” on the way, and he just goes to the service. What a cheater! However, in Russia there is a list of breakdowns in which driving vehicles is prohibited.

Guess which of them “registered” in paragraph 7.10? That’s right, a seat belt. That is, the driver himself, in the presence of an official on duty, is recognized as a violation of Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, which entails a warning or a fine of 500 rubles. We bend the second finger.

Incidentally, the same list states in black and white that a defective or torn belt is a violation. Sloppy, dirty, not rolled back or scratched – no. But if the “tongue” is not stuck in the lock, as it periodically happens in domestic cars and “tired” foreign cars, it’s the same thing, 500 rubles and an order to urgently solve the problem.

There are two conclusions worth drawing: cheating is bad and expensive, and the belt should always be fastened.
