What will the use of motor oils with Chinese additives lead to?

Last year, the largest manufacturers of motor oil additives suspended their activities in Russia. But they control 90% of the world market for such supplements! Friendly Chinese came to our rescue, but not all car owners are ready to trust their products. Is it really worth it? The answer to this question is in the material of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

At first glance, there is nothing wrong with such a replacement. Everyone knows that the automotive industry in China is huge: they produce a wide variety of vehicles – from cheap small cars and unpretentious trucks to premium sedans and innovative hybrids.

All this army of cars is of course filled with local oils. China also has its own additive manufacturers. Giants like Changhai Minglan Chemical Co. and Richful, with many awards and endorsements. But they are all Chinese – despite the fact that the global certification system is built around the American Petroleum Institute. That is, if a company wants to confirm that its product meets specific classifications, which are then listed on the label, you must be tested by our sworn friends abroad. And it’s expensive, and not always possible.

Nevertheless, a number of domestic manufacturers switched to Chinese chemicals. In addition, the most modern: if you believe the information on the network – the API SP level. But this is where all the officialdom ends: There are no results from the tests conducted by the American Petroleum Institute, nor data from the US Chemical Council.

It turns out that Asians recommend using their product only in words – maybe everything will work out. Although, in fairness, some still pay for the tests. But really the cheapest. But no one is doing a full set of checks (it costs over $20 million, by the way), and that’s alarming.

Meanwhile, our traders have gone further: they pour only one additive, bought in China, into their entire range. 5W30 or 0W20 – for them there is no difference. But the “wrong” additive is fraught with serious problems: the engine will gradually become clogged with deposits, the result of which will be a multiple acceleration of the wear of the cylinder-piston group. It remains only to wait for winter, which will bring closer the death of the steel “heart”.

So what should a simple car enthusiast who is not willing to spend a lot of money on parallel import jerry cans do? Take a look at the products of major Russian oil companies – they have research laboratories where they develop their own additive packages. And, most importantly, they have proven their effectiveness. No wonder such lubricants were poured on assembly lines into the Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen engines produced in our country.
