The Federal Tax Service (FTS) has released an updated list of cars that will be subject to a transportation tax multiplier, known as the luxury tax, in 2023.
An updated list of “luxury” cars, consisting of 174 models, has appeared on the website of the Federal Tax Service. It used to hold about 1,000 vehicles, which were subject to increasing transport tax coefficients. However, since 2023, the mechanism for calculating the “luxury tax” has changed.
Previously, cars worth more than 3 million rubles fell under it. From January 1, 2023 – only those whose price tag exceeds 10 million rubles. For them, the amount of the standard motor vehicle tax, calculated by the power of the engine, should be tripled. The adjustment of the tax code came after prices for both new and used cars rose sharply in the Russian market last year.
Subaru, Volvo, Infiniti, Kia, Ford and Toyota with Mazda were dropped from the list of “luxury cars”. But as expected, most of the Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bugatti and Maserati remained. There are also top models and trim levels from Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Porsche with a few Cadillac Escalades. The “luxury list” also includes five representatives of Aurus – Senat and Limousine.
The company for all this “heavy luxury” was several trim levels of the Genesis G90 and the only Jeep, the Grand Cherokee with a 6-liter engine, that somehow crept in here.
