The big Orthodox holiday of Easter means an extra chance for the traffic police to catch the violator of the traffic rules. Read what to expect from the police at this time in the material of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Easter Sunday is expected by millions of Orthodox throughout the year for religious reasons. And traffic police officers are also preparing for it from professional positions. And the organization of security during the processions of their “holiday” worries does not end on this day. Cars in the colors of the Easter traffic police “graze” near most major churches, and patrols on foot watch the roads next to lower-ranking cult institutions.

Moreover, on this day they do not care at all that believers who have come to holiness in large numbers, shamelessly park their cars in forbidden places. Easter grace miraculously creates a protective field near churches, tow trucks drive away, no different … No less traditional “entertainment” of traffic police officers on Easter weekend are raids on drunk drivers.

In joy, out of an overflow of feelings about the end of the fast, some drivers consume excessive amounts of alcohol and then drive. Everyone knows about this old Russian fun, and traffic cops take the opportunity to improve the performance of “traffic violation prevention” of their units.

Some regional traffic police sometimes even issue special press releases on this occasion, warning the population about the upcoming “drunken raids”. In recent years, however, such announcements have become rare. Although practice shows: during the Easter weekend the police are much more active in tracking down drunk drivers.

It is possible that such a “silence” of the traffic police can be explained simply: in Russia, the number of “drunken” accidents is falling steadily – by about 8% per year. That is, people are less likely to drive “dirty”. Accordingly, if drivers are warned about all raids, the number of “drunken” protocols in police statistics will fall even more. The authorities may not appreciate such a “decline in efficiency” of workers and the latter must somehow get out.

Well, since the time is not easy for us now, there are saboteurs-terrorists everywhere, and, most likely, at Easter the traffic policemen will also “trick” them into identifying potential militant agents of the Ukrainian special services. Which may lead to the appearance of a large number of traffic police patrols on the roads. As a result, the documents of all drivers are intensively checked one after the other. Suddenly, someone in the “rights” will find a grenade launcher, or at least a certificate from an SBU officer.
