After thoroughly familiarizing themselves with the features of this ordinary “shoe”, the experts finally decided to replace it with a set of more durable home tires, since we have already gained solid experience in using summer tires from Viatti.
Another important point, which largely predetermined the choice of Viatti Strada 2, was their novelty and improved operational characteristics, declared by the manufacturers in the development of these models. Finally, positive reviews about them also played an important role. And there are already a lot of such reviews on the Internet, despite the fact that this series of tires has recently appeared on sale.
The novelty is a further development of the Strada summer tire family, which already includes models with the resounding name Asimmetrico. By the way, they have proven themselves well on our roads. As for the new passenger version with the “2” index, it, as the developers themselves note, is aimed at car owners who prefer an active driving style. The Strada 2 is Viatti’s fastest summer tire to date. The index of its speed category varies in the range from H to W (maximum speed – up to 270 km / h).
With this in mind, the engineers designed the tire structure in such a way that the car was reliably guaranteed stability, handling and driving comfort even under extreme operating conditions. To ensure the required dynamic and braking performance and fuel efficiency, an innovative rubber compound with high grip properties is therefore used in the tread. It was possible to improve the indicators of stability, handling and noise. This was achieved, among other things, by opting for an asymmetrical tread pattern.
Of course, when designing the Strada, the developers took into account the peculiarities of Russian roads, as well as the specifics of our climatic conditions. The latter is very important to ensure passive safety, especially when driving in rainy weather. We must pay tribute to the engineers – in this regard the tire has worked out perfectly. At least, this is the conclusion that emerges according to the subjective assessments of our test pilots, who have repeatedly tested the novelty’s resistance to aquaplaning on wet surfaces.
The high resistance to aquaplaning is achieved primarily thanks to the patented Hydro Safe V technology, whereby the tread of the tire effectively squeezes water from the contact patch during driving, “ejecting” excess moisture through four longitudinal grooves. Which, as we have seen, contributes to maintaining good grip properties of tires on the road. Therefore, the behavior of Moskvich 3, shod in Strada 2, turns out to be quite predictable in muddy weather. On wet surfaces, the crossover behaves confidently, including at high speeds.
But these summer tires prove their high-speed qualities most clearly on dry roads. We have been convinced of this repeatedly during many kilometers of journeys, both along the Moscow ring road and along the central ring road near Moscow, where the wind blows well.
Such test drives made it possible to note such properties of rubber as high directional stability when driving straight, as well as confident cornering. Moreover, on these tires you can storm every corner with confidence, even very twisty corners. The main thing at the same time is not to reduce control over the speed of the machine.
Such “road tests” of tires made it possible to evaluate both the braking and acceleration properties of the novelty on dry surfaces at the same time. Let’s say: the new tires from Viatti confidently keep to the road, and after a few short exercises of the driver according to the “start-stop” scheme, they allow him to correctly predict the braking distance. Which, you see, is very important when you are driving on the highway at high speed, especially when you are in a dense stream of cars.
Having evaluated the driving performance of the new thing in practice, we can now responsibly claim that these models have of course proved successful. Suffice it to say that, in terms of the combination of their performance and cost, they are already among the leaders among tires in their high-speed segment. It is not surprising that today these models are also eagerly purchased by owners of foreign premium cars.
So, on the next trip to Moskvich 3, our test editor saw an Audi A6 in one of the parking lots, also “shod” in the new Strada 2, and decided to talk to the owner. During the conversation, it turned out that just a few weeks ago they mounted a new tire, and during this time the car managed to “wind” more than 3,000 km on the road.
According to the owner of Audi, the driving comfort of the new tires suits him completely and they turned out to be even better in terms of sound and driving comfort than those summer imported tires that were previously on the car.
