The G7 countries – France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the US and Canada – are in serious talks about plans to completely ban the export of all their goods to Russia.
– If the Japanese government does not restrict the current (ban) on luxury cars and extend it to cars and used cars, it will affect companies in Japan and the economy of Japanese regions. There is a possibility that tires, cosmetics and clothing will be banned, the Kyodo agency reported.
The essence of the draft of new sanctions against Russia being discussed by the representatives of the G7 is that all exports to our country are prohibited by default. Only goods from specially drawn up exemption lists may be imported into the Russian Federation.
Recall that in the regions of the Far East used right-hand drive cars from Japan make up the lion’s share of the vehicle fleet. Last year, more than 200,000 used vehicles were imported into Russia through Vladivostok customs alone. The vast majority of them were right-hand drive.
Note that the chances of us introducing an import ban on cars from Japan are far from 100 percent for us. It is likely that the situation with cars will repeat the situation that developed earlier with Russian oil imports. Japan buys it from us despite the embargo imposed by all G7 countries on the purchase of Russian hydrocarbons. Because the interests of the national economy are more important than political ambitions.
