New does not mean good: how do you find out that the seller offers defective tires
The tire problem has been very acute for more than a year: prices continue to rise, the product line continues to shrink, instead of well-known and proven brands, new products appear, the quality of which has yet to be assessed. And the shortage always gives rise to villains who take advantage of the situation to enrich themselves. And the current crisis is no exception.

There are many tire factories in Russia that continue to operate quietly even under sanctions. The updated LADA Vesta appeared before us in Pirelli “slippers”, and on the shelves there are enough Nokian tires with a date of both the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. However, many brands have left the country, control at enterprises has decreased, and some processes are completely controlled by their fingers: such a batch – well, who controls the rejection, for example?

Under normal circumstances, tires that didn’t pass the OTC were marked and even specially cut so they didn’t hit the counter. Is this procedure carefully followed today? We highly doubt it.

At each factory there is a special technologist who monitors the quality of products. Many “flaws” are immediately visible: peeling of the rubber, it is also a hernia, dirt pressed into the tire during firing, lagging cord threads, visual defects. In addition, not all tires are balanced, so questionable tires are checked. After – “refuse”. In three out of four cases, substandard rubber is simply dumped in a heap for later recycling. And it’s a shame not to earn extra money in such a situation!

The tape looks like new, must not differ optically from a high-quality colleague, there are no holes or tears and you can order a sticker from a printing company. No one will ask “why” and “why” – it’s not the right time, there are already few customers. Thus, criminals get defective tires in commercial quantities on the market. Of course, large stores and chain stores will not take such goods. Whether it’s the markets and small “shops” on the Internet, which seduce with discounts and promotions. You always want to save money, and now it’s doubly so, so many drivers, without suspecting anything, buy substandard.

Before paying, you should carefully examine the rubber: firstly, defective tires are marked with paint at the factory, the traces of which are sometimes not completely erased by attackers. We saw the remnants of greenery – throw it away, you can’t drive on such a tire. Secondly, even if the defect was not “reflected” in some way, it can often be seen with the eyes: it is enough to roll a curved tire on the floor to determine the degree of deviation, any visual defects – delamination, pattern curvature, and so on – are also noticeable.

You have to look both outward and inward. Theoretically, even the quality of the rubber compound can be checked: on each tire there is a flash, but with a good one it stretches twice, and with a defective one it breaks immediately.

Buying new tires is always an event, as they become more expensive every time. However, the endless race for savings should not affect the most important thing: road safety. The miser, as you know, pays twice.
