Early rumors of the iPhone 14 suggested that Apple’s smartphone lineup in 2022 would feature four new models, but not a mini version this time around. According to our data, the new iPhone 14 (codenames D27 and D28) will be available in 6.1 and 6.7 inch versions, while the current form factor of the iPhone mini with a diagonal of 5.4 inches will be discontinued.

These mid-range phones will have the same screen resolution as the current iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, the display on the flagship iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max (codenamed D73 and D74) may be slightly higher to match the new indentation + pill design that will replace the indentation.

As for the chip state, there will be two new iPhone 14 models based on the A15 chip, and the other two will have a completely new chip. It’s worth noting that Apple currently has two different versions of the A15 chip, one of which has an additional core processor and 6GB of RAM (used in 13 Pro models).

Apple may use a high-performance version of the A15 Bionic chip in the entry-level iPhone 14 models, where all iPhones will have 6GB of RAM this year. The company may rename the “A15X” chip, as in the iPad Pro 2020, the A12Z chip, which in the past was an A12X chip with an additional GPU core.

Satellite features

A few weeks before the iPhone 13 was announced, some reports said that Apple was working on satellite features for future iPhone models. Although these features have never been added to the iPhone 13 line, sources said that Apple continues to work on satellite communications for the iPhone.
