Samsung was one of the first brands to launch a sophisticated smartphone model. The Galaxy Fold was first announced just three years ago, and now the device seems to have reached the end of its life in terms of Android updates.

For those who don’t know, Galaxy Fold faced many delays before its final release and it was released with Android 9 Pie in 2019. But since then, the South Korean tech giant has rolled out various updates, and the company’s first foldable device now runs on Android 12. But that seems like the end of the road as Samsung won’t be rolling out a major OS update. Galaxy Fold. In other words, it also means it’s the company’s only foldable smartphone that hasn’t received a single update since Android 12. Samsung usually offers three years of OS updates and one more year of security patches. However, as the Galaxy Fold comes to the end of its three-year update cycle, it will no longer be eligible for major updates. Meanwhile, the 2021 and 2022 models of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones will continue to be eligible for the Android 14 update next year.

Note that this does not mean that all software updates for this device will be stopped. There is still at least a year for security updates and fixes. Since Android 13 has just been released, Android 12 is by no means outdated, so Galaxy Fold users don’t have to worry about their foldable phone suddenly going out of fashion.
