In December 2022, the Wiko 5G (rebranded Huawei Nova 9 SE) was officially launched in China as a smartphone that supports newer and faster bandwidth and runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS. Now, it looks like the brand is working on another new 5G phone. Here are all the details.
The new Wiko 5G device has recently passed through China’s TENAA certification site. For those who don’t know, every device sold in the region has to pass this certification before it’s officially released, so it’s clear that the company is working on a new 5G smartphone. Unfortunately, the fine details about this device such as specs and price are still unknown. Although we know it has the model number GAR-AN00.
In addition, this device will run on HarmonyOS, Huawei’s own operating system, which is also approved to support 5G networks. The previous Wiko 5G was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, so it’s possible that the next-gen model will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon series processor or even a MediaTek Dimensity chip. It is unclear whether this model will be more expensive compared to the mid-range device, the Wiko 5G.
This model featured a long 6.78-inch LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution, a centered selfie camera and a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. The device is powered by a 4000mAh battery that also supports 66W fast charging. The Wiko 5G was launched in China for 1,999 yuan (about US$290), so we can expect the next-gen model to be around the same price or possibly higher if it’s something like a flagship device.
