The behavioral experiment involved 20,000 drivers traveling 13 million kilometers in 14 days. The results revealed that Android smartphone owners are less likely to crash than Apple device owners.
Details of the study
Android users scored higher for safe driving in each category:
- distraction from the road,
- speed up,
- return,
- overclocking,
- braking.
Interestingly, the biggest gap came in the distraction from the road category, which means: iPhone users are more likely to turn their attention to the smartphone behind the wheel.

If you compare the participants of different age categories, in any case, owners of Android smartphones show themselves as more careful drivers than owners of iPhones. The highest scores were given to the elderly who were married, had a bachelor’s degree or higher, and had a high credit score.

Android users with the worst credit history (i.e., the financially disadvantaged ones) are just as proving themselves on the road as the iPhone owners with the highest credit scores. Both groups scored 73 points. Users without even a high school diploma (grades 9 to 12) scored higher than iPhone proponents with doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees.

As you can see in the infographic, Android users with no higher education or even final grades from school scored 75 points. And iPhone owners with a Ph.D. – 72 points.
Conclusion
The company doesn’t know exactly what could affect the results. But the problem, according to him, lies in the characteristics of the individual, in the character of people who prefer certain smartphones. The Jerry report cites several studies that found Android users to be more honest and less likely to lie and break the law.
