NASA steps up work on next-generation space suits

NASA wants to step up work on the next generation of spacesuits. The US space agency has given Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace additional orders to develop even more advanced new spacesuits. According to the released information, the companies are working on a spacesuit designed for spacewalks in orbit around the moon.

The agency published the news on its official page. Importantly, NASA partnered with Axiom Space to create space suits for the astronauts who will go to the moon as part of the Artemis mission. Therefore, the relationship between the space agency and the company is already known. In fact, Axiom Space has already revealed the design of the spacesuits that will be used on the Artemis mission., which should return humanity to the moon. In addition, the US Space Agency also revealed which astronauts were selected for the mission.

NASA wants a new generation of spacesuits

The new suits developed by Axiom Space will provide astronauts with greater mobility and protection during missions. However, NASA’s new requests are more specific, The space agency is looking for spacesuits that facilitate movement in low gravity conditions. With suits capable of offering astronauts increased mobility on the Moon, exploration missions will certainly become easier.

In this sense, Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace are competing to create something innovative that NASA can use in future space exploration missions. However, it may be a while before we see these new suits in action. According to a NASA publication, companies will work on new technologies by 2034when they should submit the results. Therefore, it is expected that all stages of the Artemis mission will be completed with the current suits released by Axiom Sapce. In any case, the investment shows a desire to expand space exploration and facilitate our journeys to the Moon and, who knows, Mars as well.
