This change is not a big surprise. It’s worth remembering that Apple has already changed the inputs of its iPad lines to USB-C. Another important factor for this change to happen is the determination of the European Union. In April, the European Union’s (EU) Committee on the Market and Consumer Protection determined that USB Type-C would be the standard charging port. According to Bloomberg, this was the “fundamental reason” for Apple’s decision to consider the move. There are also technical benefits to moving to USB-C, which offers faster transfer speeds than Lightning.

Another curious part is that the rumors pointed to the production of the iPhone at no cost. Experts said that the American multinational concern has been thinking about creating a device in this way for years. But, judging by the latest reports, this idea was abandoned.

The company first introduced the Lightning port to the iPhone 5 in 2012.

Last Wednesday (12), expert Ming-Chi Kuo noted that Apple will move from Lightning to USB-C. In a series of tweets, Kuo said that the adoption of USB-C “can improve iPhone transfer and download speeds on hardware, but the final specification details are still up to iOS support.“.

Apple enthusiasts claim that the Lightning exit simply failed. MacRumors recalled in a recent article that Apple introduced the standard in September 2012, with Phil Schiller calling it “the next decade’s modern connector.” Well: it’s May 2022, and the decade is almost over.
