Elon Musk met this Friday (20) with President Jair Bolsonaro here in Brazil to discuss the use of Starlink satellite internet in Brazilian regions. According to Elon Musk via Twitter, the agreement includes 19,000 schools previously without Internet access, as well as Amazon monitoring, apparently to save the site.

Anatel, the National Telecommunications Agency, already granted SpaceX the right to operate here in Brazil in January of this year, and now we are seeing another step forward in this technology here in the country.

In Brazil, many schools do not have access to the Internet, which is necessary to access knowledge, and in Brazil there are regions with difficult access to cables that can be covered by satellites. Just to give you an idea, the TIC Educação 2020 survey shows that in the northern region of the country, only 51% of schools have internet access. The Midwest region has the most connected schools, with 98% of them connected.

So far, 2,200 satellites have been launched, but it is planned to launch up to 40,000 to cover as much territory as possible. The more satellites, the better the coverage.

The price includes a monthly fee of about 800 reais, and the cost of the purchased equipment is about 5000 reais.

Technology is what they talk about so much, but, unfortunately, technological development is impossible without creating a base, without paying attention to schools. Ideally, our country should have been able to develop its own technologies, but if it were easy, every country would have these advanced technologies, but the truth is that few are really well involved in this field. China, Russia and USA are the best. Russia and China are even collaborating to start building a moon base this decade.
