Professor Mark Travers outlined three simple ways to be happy. He listed them in an article for Psychology Today.

The scientist notes that no matter what period a person is currently going through – rise or fall – he can become the creator of his moral well-being. Citing a study published in the Journal of Research in Personality, Travers said that along with the rejection of the desire to be perfect, forgiveness and communication are the main secrets of happiness.

He said that the constant pursuit of lofty goals often leads to emotional, professional, and physical burnout. This is followed by the obsession that a person who does not get results is not worthy of anything good. The psychologist insists that it is necessary to abandon all forms of perfectionism in relation to yourself and others, and the view that others also demand perfection from you.


The scientist assures that sociability will help to feel happy. Solitude, peace and quiet are only good in small doses. Communication is helpful even for introverts and people with social anxiety.

Forgiveness is the third point on the path to happiness. Feelings of guilt towards a person or remembering the bad behavior of others lead to serious psychological problems. Studies show that those who seek revenge (such as colleagues) see themselves as less humane, sophisticated, and intelligent than those who can forgive themselves.

Mark Travers states that the ability to turn a bad day into a good one is a daily practice, not a super skill.
