First job offer. In the job offer shared by @kellysbenidormcuya on her profile, it was read that the position of cleaning assistant in three and four star hotels was announced. Vacancy requirements included having at least one year of experience, being “multilingual”, “having excellent presentation and a high level of personal care” and being “resilient to setbacks”. In exchange for these requirements, a permanent fixed contract and 30 hours of work per month was offered for 1,290 Euros.

They’re already telling you that your job will be stressful and overwhelming and you need to adapt to that.”

The cleaners’ representative took this opportunity to remind that companies must comply with the law on the prevention of occupational risks. According to the newspaper People71.5% of cleaning workers use painkillers and have pain in 4 to 7 areas, 4 out of 10 people have depressive symptoms, 95.9% experience clinical anxiety due to work conditions.

“Multilingual”. Requiring the use of language a priori may not attract attention if it is to be part of a hotel service, especially in a tourist area such as Marina Alta and Benidorm. However, we must remember that cleaning services are outsourced and are not part of the hotel staff.

The cleaners’ representative told El País: “When you open the room, normally the customer is not there. “Maybe you meet him in the hallway and he asks you for a pillow, but the normal thing is that he does this through the switchboard.”

Correction of the offer. Following the controversy caused by the conditions in the first job offer, the applicant company made changes to its advertisement. The requirement of “excellent presentation and senior staff” was removed and “Multilingual” was replaced with the phrase “Other languages ​​are valuable”.

However, as a notice to seafarers, the “Resilience in the face of setbacks” requirement is retained in the modified version of the job offer.
