NASA’s Perseverance Rover has completed a crucial exploration phase in Mars’ Jezero Crater.
In 2018, scientists chose this area as a landing site because of evidence that it was once a water-filled lakebed. The delta structure, especially on its western edge, was notable for its richness in clay, making it an ideal area to search for signs of life on Mars.
Now NASA flies to the top of Perseverance’s crater rim, He reached the area called “View Hill” announced. The vehicle completed a vertical climb of almost 500 meters in about three and a half months. During this period he recorded his journey and made several scientific observations. Over the next year, the vehicle will travel a distance of approximately 4 miles and survey four specific areas where it will collect geological samples.
Light may be shed on the past of Mars and Earth

The rover has been on course since landing on Mars in 2021. conducted four different scientific studies. The first study collected rocks, atmospheric data and control samples in regions such as the Máaz Formation around the landing site. In the second and third studies he studied the Jezero delta, taking clay and rock samples. His fourth research involved examining the carbonate rock formations on the upper rim of the crater.
The new phase will now allow the Perseverance team to explore a previously unexplored region of Mars called the Northern Rim. Ken Farley of Caltech pointed out the importance of this stage, saying: “These rocks are remnants of Mars’ early crust and are among the oldest rock samples discovered in the solar system.” he said. It is claimed that these studies could shed light on the past of both Mars and Earth..
Perseverance’s mission team developed new strategies to overcome difficult terrain during the ascent. NASA Steven Lee “Our vehicle overcame these obstacles like a champ and is fully ready for the next run.” he said. Perseverance’s subsequent explorations will continue to provide critical insights into both the geological and biological history of Mars.
