According to JustWatch, Netflix remains the leader in the Brazilian streaming market. In the second quarter of 2022, the platform held 31% of the market, enough to take the top spot.

Amazon Prime Video, which increased subscription prices in May, remains in second place with 22% of the market. Disney+ is in third place with 15%, which represents a two percentage point increase between April and June of this year.

Stability of positions and a slight drop for Globoplay

Research conducted by JustWatch shows stability in all positions. HBO Max is in fourth place with 12% of the market, followed by Globoplay with 7% and Star+ with 4%. The last two showed a drop of one percentage point over the period. Other streaming services added 9%.

If we take into account the first half of the year, Disney+ accumulates growth of 3%, and HBO Max – 1%. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the market leaders, have remained stable in terms of user numbers.

Brazil is the second country in the world to watch movies and series the most via streaming. The popularization of the service here in the country can be easily seen, since, according to Anatel, about 1.4 million people opted out of pay TV service in 2021 alone. This migration of the combination of pay TV + internet + landline and mobile has been constant in recent years and eventually exacerbated during the pandemic.
