According to the FENABRAVE (National Automobile Distribution Federation) rankings, the South Korean brand’s compact had 637 more sales than in February, when it was in second position. Volkswagen T-Cross, Fiat Mobi, Chevrolet Onix and Chevrolet Tracker rounded out the top five. These numbers also keep HB20 in the overall lead of the year with 18,761 registrations.
Renault Kwid, its main competitor, didn’t perform well this month and sold just 3,585 units, placing it 13th in the rankings and out of the top ten.
Another model that had a drop in sales was the Jeep Renegade, which had only 3,789 license plates in March, the most likely reason for this at the moment is the global semiconductor crisis – electrically conductive materials – triggered by factors such as a slowdown in production due to the Covid-19 pandemic, trade disputes between the US and China, and component factory fires.
Aside from the Kwid, the other car in the February 10 top that didn’t hit the March bestseller list was the Fiat Argo. Their positions were “stolen” by the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corolla Cross in a nice restoration from the Japanese manufacturer, missing from the previous highlights.
The overall ranking for March was led by the Fiat Strada, which received a new generation in 2020 and also led last month. However, the Fenabrave is not treated as a passenger car, but as a light commercial vehicle. Widely sold to fleet owners and companies, it has different versions and the most recent is the CVT automatic transmission version used in the Fiat Pulse SUV.
