Ikarians prefer herbal teas containing rosemary, dandelion and wild sage, while Sardinians prefer thistle tea, which is believed to cleanse the liver. “Green tea is rich in catechins and polyphenols, which have antioxidant properties and prevent disease by fighting free radicals, regulating cholesterol levels, stabilizing blood pressure, and increasing cell division,” said Komova.

Experts often recommend drinking black tea. This beverage may lower blood sugar, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, improve cholesterol, and protect gut health. Longevity people often drink the tea without sweetener and add a slice of lemon or some fresh mint to taste.
