Much of the global internet network is powered by huge cables laid under the oceans. In other words, we actually use it at home, at work, at school; The wireless internet that we connect to mobile data at 5G speed is not so wireless. Founded by Elon Musk to solve this problem starlink on the other is carrying out a “global modem” project that will surround the Earth with thousands of mini-satellites.
With each launch, another 60 of Elon Musk’s companies, SpaceX, are added to the satellites launched into space with Falcon 9 rockets. While this number may decrease or increase from time to time, SpaceX has now managed to put hundreds of satellites into orbit with 3 rocket launches almost every month.
Falcon 9 rockets went into space for Starlink satellites 37 times this year alone, bringing the total number of satellites to 3,108.
At the last launch on August 19, 53 additional satellites took their place next to the orbiting satellite. In addition, SpaceX broke the company’s record for 2021 with a total of 37 smooth launches and landings.
There is still a long way to go for Starlink:
The number of launches to be made so that the number of satellites in orbit reaches 42,000, about 700. In addition, while 2,809 of the 3,108 satellites currently in orbit are operational, only 2,313 satellites can be connected to the Internet. Starlink, which currently serves a limited number of users, also costs more than traditional Internet services.
