An ongoing question for scientists and fans of the universe: does it exist and when will we find intelligent life outside of planet Earth. Astrophysicist Sascha Quantz from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) recently answered this question, and, according to him, we will be able to find aliens within the next 25 years.

The same material found on the Red Planet is present on the beaches of Hawaii.
The “confirmation” was made during the opening of the new Center for the Origin and Diffusion of Life at ETH Zurich. A number of “ongoing” projects could make it possible to detect life beyond Earth, Quantz said. In addition, astronomers believe that there are many Earth-like exoplanets on which life is possible.
One example technology cited is the Mid-Infrared Imager and Spectrograph (METIS), which is under development and will be linked to the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) in Chile. The LIFE (Large Interferometer for Exoplanets) project, conceived in 2017, is also on this list, although it is in the “discussion phase” at the European Space Agency (ESA). It has not been officially approved or funded.

Is life really possible beyond Earth?
The counterpoint, by Sasha Quantz, is that even though there are many exoplanets (planets outside our solar system), it is not known if they have atmospheres or what they are made of. The main solution would be to investigate observationally, with the help of photographs. A space telescope could watch these planets for traces of molecules that indicate life. “We need to gain a deeper understanding of the possible building blocks of life, the pathways and timing of chemical reactions, and environmental conditions to help us prioritize target stars and target planets,” Quantz says.
Many technologies that can help us find “neighbors” in other systems and galaxies are still “in their infancy” or have not yet begun to be developed, but Quanz believes in advancing human knowledge about other planets. Soon we will be able to confirm that we are not alone in the universe, or completely disprove this hypothesis.
