What to expect in May

The new space weather forecast for May predicts a relatively quiet month. On the first and second day of May, solar radiation does not threaten anything unusual.

In case of moderate disruption, minor interruptions in the operation of power grids and satellites can be observed.

But remember that surprises are not excluded either. So, in April, for example, scientists predicted a single strong magnetic storm on the 20th and 21st followed by a period of calm until the end of the month, but on April 23 there was such a strong disturbance that they reflected the aurora as follows: they observed: as far away as Ukraine, which they often cannot reach.

Such predictions are always approximate, since it is impossible to predict the Sun’s behavior with 100 percent accuracy, especially given the fact that our star is approaching the point of maximum activity in 2025. This means we are facing more unexpected flares and coronal mass ejections, some of which may be headed towards Earth.
