A password manager is a useful tool to boost your digital security. After all, you already know that you need to come up with a different password for each account, and a password manager will help you remember that. macOS users can store their passwords in iCloud, but this password manager has the limitation that it only works in Safari. That’s going to change.
Apple developer Ricky Montello announces via his personal Twitter account that iCloud Keychain will soon finally work in browsers other than Safari. By installing the iCloud password browser extension, you can transfer your password keychain to another browser. The extension is already available for Chrome and will surely come to Edge as well.
The update itself will have to wait until the release of macOS Sonoma. The latest version of Apple’s operating system was announced at WWDC. You can read an overview of other new functionalities here. However, the iCloud keychain extension will not be rolled out retroactively for macOS Ventura and earlier versions.
