Microsoft has officially introduced the VPN service for the Edge browser built into the Windows operating system. This is called a Secure Network. Currently, the VPN is available as a preview via the Canary Channel for a limited number of Edge Insider testers.
Microsoft Edge Secure Network is a simplified VPN that does not require the installation of third-party software or browser extensions. According to the company, this feature aims to provide Edge users with a secure connection when working on public networks, which often lack privacy protection. Using the Secure Network allows you to hide your IP address, encrypt data, and route traffic over a secure Cloudflare network.
Unlike traditional VPN services that let you choose servers in specific countries, Secure Network in Microsoft Edge automatically selects servers in the user’s region, making it impossible to bypass regional restrictions.
So far, Microsoft has not made it clear whether it plans to make Secure Network a paid feature in the Edge browser. Microsoft is currently providing 1GB free for testing participants. Source
