Of the many systems that currently exist for remote access to our own content, Plex has always seemed to me to be the best choice. Of course, I respect users with other preferences, but after their repeated testing over time (I don’t close the door to anything, that would be absurd) I still stick to what Plex offers me, which in its free version already meets my needs and people’s needs, with whom I share my library.

One of the reasons I like Plex is that its managers don’t rest on their laurels, quite the opposite, once in a while we will be surprised by a new feature. Some are as interesting to everyone as free TV channels, others are much more surprising, but they deserve awards, such as Plex Arcade, an experiment that the company itself did not believe, and perhaps due to lack of bellows in the design, closed its gates last March.

It is said that the dead king is the king, so after the quiet departure of the Arcade, the service decided to surprise us with a new function, and I see a lot of the future in this. And as we can read on the company blog, Plex has launched a new aggregator feature for streaming services in which we are released. The feature is currently in beta, but is still available to all users, including those using free accounts.

With this feature, Plex users they will be able to configure their accounts on different streaming services compatible with this new feature (Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Disney +, Apple TV +, etc.) and in this way, when they decide to search for specific content, Plex will indicate what platform it is on and, in addition, offer the opportunity to play it directly from its interface.

This proposal is nothing new, basically similar functions can be found, for example, in the Apple TV + application for Apple TV. However, the great advantage of Plex design over other similar options is that they are usually cross-platform, while in the case of Plex it is sufficient to configure service accounts in the server configuration and thus access content from platforms that have a client for Plex. which practically all exist today.
