Researchers from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, have developed an artificial intelligence-based technology that can imitate human handwriting.
This was reported by Bloomberg, as reported by Ukrinform.
Researchers at the Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi have developed a technology that can mimic human handwriting based on just a few paragraphs of written material. To reach this conclusion, the researchers used a transformer model, a type of neural network designed to learn the context and meaning of sequential data. It was noted that UAE researchers have not yet disclosed the new artificial intelligence technology to the public.
The technology can learn and write English and partly French. The developers say they are still trying to add Arabic to this list.
MBZUAI team, which calls itself the world’s first artificial intelligence university, received a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for the artificial intelligence system it developed.
The new tool should be used wisely, the two researchers said.
“We will need to attract public attention and develop tools to combat counterfeiting,” said Hisham Cholakkal, associate professor in MBZUAI’s computer vision department.
The researchers also added that they plan to apply the new AI technology to real-world applications within months and are looking for commercial partners.
“From decoding doctors’ handwriting to creating personalized advertisements, the potential for this development is huge,” said Rao Muhammad Anwar, associate professor in the computer vision department at MBZUAI.
As reported, Samsung Electronics introduced the new version of its artificially intelligent home robot companion, Ballie, at the CES 2024 trade show in Las Vegas.
