China on Saturday morning launched 11 Geely-02 satellites into space, owned by Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group and designed to provide accurate navigation data to the company’s unmanned vehicles.

This was reported by Xinhua, according to Ukrinform’s report.

The satellites were launched into Earth orbit by the Long March-2C launch vehicle, which was launched at 7:37 a.m. local time (1:37 a.m. Kiev time) from the Xichang Cosmodrome in southwestern Sichuan Province.

It was reported that all 11 spacecraft reached the designated orbits.

Geely company aims to create a satellite constellation in low Earth orbit that will provide high-precision positioning for its unmanned vehicles.

The first 9 spacecraft were launched in June 2022, and the company plans to have 72 spacecraft in orbit by 2025. Ultimately, the constellation should consist of 240 satellites.

In addition to navigation functions, Geely satellites will also provide commercial satellite communications and telecommunications services.

According to the company, the spacecraft has remote sensing capabilities with artificial intelligence and provides clear images with high resolution of 1-5 meters.

Today’s mission was the 508th flight of liquid-fueled three-stage Long March launch vehicles capable of carrying up to 1 ton of payload into Earth orbit.

As reported by Ukrinform, Northrop Grumman company’s Cygnus space cargo ship arrived at the International Space Station on February 1, delivering approximately 3.7 tons of cargo, including scientific research materials, food and equipment.
