SpearUAV has launched the standalone Ninox 103 UW Sub-to-Air quadcopter, which it claims is the first drone launched from a submarine and other submarine platforms.
Since the creation of the submarine, they have suffered from not being able to see what is happening above the waves beyond the periscope.
In recent years, the Navy has turned its attention to drones that can be launched underwater for use as a reconnaissance platform. Therefore, according to SpearUAV, Ninox 103 is stored in a capsule that can be opened from a submarine. The capsule spawns on the surface and can stay dormant for up to 24 hours after the drone launches.
While in the air, the Ninox 103 has a range of 10 km and a duration of 45 minutes. At a payload of 1 kg, the drone has low acoustic, thermal and visual signature, equipped with electro-optical / infrared sensors for reconnaissance and automatic target capture using artificial intelligence. Encrypted communication, third-party data integration, and cross-domain communication are used to communicate with the submarine, other platforms, or onshore special forces groups.
