One of the most popular platforms in the world, TikTok, has added a new effect that uses an artificial intelligence system that can convert text into an image. Called AI Greenscreen, it appeared in the application with the ability to enter a text prompt, which will be converted into an image.

An extremely useful tool for content creators, this image can be used as the background of a video, giving users endless creative possibilities. However, it does not offer all the complexity of what is currently found in Google’s imaging systems, DALL-E 2.

At the moment, she will be able to create quite abstract images. However, technology and artificial intelligence are expected to improve over the next few months to offer a different variety to the TikTok audience.

Models that already exist today allow for more realistic creations. It transforms text into images reminiscent of photorealism and illustrations that could very well have been created or drawn by humans.

The restrictions originally applied to AI Greenscreen may have been intentional by TikTok itself. This is because more complex systems, which will not be secure from future application access, require much more computation, which would make resource creation more expensive to implement.

However, one possible reason could be related to the risks that the most popular application in the world would have with this type of technology. With over 1 billion users, TikTok had to make sure that disturbing results couldn’t be created with artificial intelligence.

Thus, when using texts containing more sensitive content, abstract images do not give the wrong impression to users. Users ran tests with some words, such as nudity, and while the skin tone was properly included in the drawing, it didn’t present vulgar images that needed TikTok’s attention.
