Google has updated its rules for moderating comments on YouTube – now the platform will penalize the authors of offensive messages. This was written by Gizmodo.

Under the new regulation, YouTube will monitor comments and warn users who leave messages that don’t follow the video hosting community’s guidelines. If the user does not listen to the warning and repeats the violation, YouTube will block the user for 24 hours.

“We want to protect authors from users who try to negatively influence the community with their comments”says YouTube.

It is noted that the hosting also implements an arbitration system. With its help, banned users will be able to try to appeal the decision of the moderators.

The new rules on YouTube went into effect on December 14. Initially, the warning and ban system will only work for comments written in English.
