With the launch of the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Community, the manufacturer wants to join forces with network manufacturers.
Dell Technologies announces at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that it intends to build an ecosystem consisting of several telecommunications partners and communication service providers. The goal is to bring open telecom solutions to market faster by sharing knowledge within the ecosystem.
The announcement comes a week after Dell partnered with Red Hat to give telecom operators a solid foundation for building open networks. This solution will be available from the second half of 2023.
Within the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Community, the technology giant is already working with Nokia, among others. The latter has integrated and validated its 5G Cloud RAN software, as well as the Cloud RAN SmartNIC inline Lyar-1 accelerator card. Both companies plan to share development and research resources to launch a new virtual RAN offering.
Nokia, Qualcomm and Juniper Networks
Dell is also already working with Qualcomm on a virtualized distributed 5G unit. This solution combines Dell PowerEdge XR8000 and XR5610 servers in edge situations in combination with the Qualcomm X100 5G RAN Accelerator Card. According to Dell, this combination ensures high performance and is cost-effective and energy-efficient to roll out virtualized and open RAN technologies.
Another partner within the ecosystem is Amdocs, with whom Dell is collaborating on standalone 5G core networks. Finally, Juniper Networks is also on board with a certified offering that offers providers a quick solution for server consolidation and power pole reduction.
With the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Community, the manufacturer wants to open the door to more cooperation within the telecommunications industry in order to introduce open 5G network solutions faster.
